SHADOW M.D.?
Shadow M.D. is an organization started at University of California, Riverside by a group of students to provide the bridge between Pre-Medical Students and Medical Physicians to witness how Physicians operate in clinical settings. As a member of the organization, students are able to “shadow” (follow and interact) different Medical & Osteopathic Physicians, and experience first-hand what the Medical field has to offer.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can someone drive me to the clinic for my shadowing time slot?
Unfortunately, we currently do not provide rides when it comes to shadowing. This is because shadowing occurs at various times throughout the day, and we do not have board members available at every hour to drive other members. You can take the bus for free though! (Just use your UCR student ID card)
Can someone drive me to the event / fundraiser?
Yes! Just send us an email or reply to the email regarding the event / fundraiser.
What if all the shadowing time slots clash with my school schedule?
At the beginning of every quarter, we will email out a form where you can indicate whether or not you’ll be able to shadow based on your schedule. This will help us separate you from the members who don’t fulfill their quarterly requirements, and you will not lose your active member status.
What if I can’t attend a general meeting?
As we only have a few general meetings per quarter, they are all mandatory and attendance is required by all members. Failure to attend a meeting could result in a loss of active member status or the opportunity to shadow. Meetings are usually scheduled on campus in the evening when most students are finished with classes. If you have a major conflict that clashes with our meeting time, please contact the President immediately or email us at ucrshadowmd@gmail.com.
What if I don’t fulfill the active member requirements by the end of the quarter?
Failure to satisfy all the requirements expected of you without an excused absence / leave will result in a loss of the opportunity to shadow. Constant failure to fulfill requirements will result in a loss of active member status.
How can I become a board member?
There are two ways! In the fall, we will be accepting applications for interns. Interns will work closely with board members to get an insight on what it's like to be a board member and learn more about how the club operates behind the scenes. This is a great opportunity to get more involved and to gain experience when it comes to running for an actual board position. The second way is to run for board in the spring when we have our annual club elections. This consists of an application, interview, and speech.
